In winter, 238 km of pistes and 44 of the latest transport systems guarantee unlimited snow fun in the Silvretta Arena Samnaun / Ischgl. The ski arena lies between 1'400 and 2'900 metres altitude and is one of the most snow-assured skiing regions in Europe. In summer the Samnaun valley with its surrounding 'giants' presents itself as a hiking paradise par excellence.

On 250 km of hiking routes you enjoy wonderful panoramas far beyond narrow mountain valleys and are indulged with the sight of of a unique flora and fauna. Should one prefer a shorter tour, excellent advice is available. Our various instruction paths (plants, game and mountain forests) and the legend path as well as the 'Quotation and Aphorism Way' are very popular. And if the weather is dull and the legs tired then there is no place like the Alpenquell experience baths to relax in.

We have pleasure in introducing the individual villages of the Samnaun valley in more detail to you:

One valley with five villages. Become acquainted with Samnaun with its to seem parliamentary groups more near:

Samnaun-Dorf is the touristic 'capital' of Samnaun valley. At an altitude of 1'840 m, Europe's highest shopping-mile goes right through the village and here the night-life is also the most lively. The mighty Piz Ot (2'759 m) towers over Samnaun and seems to protect the village. In winter one can reach Samnaun village directly on skis via the Zeblas valley downhill run.

Ravaisch (1'799 m) houses the valley station of the aerial cable railway which provides the connections in the Silvretta Arena. The name means 'lying next to a brook', namely the wild, romantic Schergen brook which, bedded in the beautiful landscape, flows through the entire valley.

In Plan you find the valley museum, 'Chesa Retica' which shows what life was like in Samnaun valley in the 16th to 19th centuries. Here there are small hotels and a few holiday flats, all very cosy and romantically situated, door to door with the locals.

The village of Laret (1'730 m) with its narrow lanes, has retained its original character. Many farmers still 'till the ground' and have no objection to tourists 'looking over their shoulders'. Laret means 'situated at a forest of larches' and in winter you  can reach Laret just by skiing through this forest downhill from Alp Trida / Alp Bella. Here you also find the alpine show cheese dairy.

Finally, Compatsch (1'715 m), the political  centre of the valley. There you find the Alpenquell experience baths and the late Gothic Church of St Jakob, listed as a national monument. The valley children go to school in Compatsch. And as with Laret, so Compatsch can be reached in winter comfortably by downhill ski run from Alp Trida / Alp Bella.
