I.9 Schmuggler Trail

Long, partially exposed trail with some uphill stretches. Only suitable for riders with sufficient physical condition. Always running along the border, the compact gravel road winds along the ridge. A lot of stamina is required - the climbs are sometimes so steep that you have to push the bike a bit. After the Greitspitzbahn, a top-class trail provides an incredible feeling of freedom. At an altitude of over 2,700 m, it always goes along the ridge to the Salaaser Kopf. From now on the downhill part begins. You can see why the smugglers chose this route: apart from a few cows, you will meet almost no one here. Then a leisurely forest road will take you to the Alp Trider Sattel mountain station. Now the Trail Trider saddle (page 38) provides enough downhill fun again and leads to the destination, Alp Trida. Here the Flimsattelbahn takes you back to the starting point of the trail. Alternatively, the Duty Free Ride Laret-Samnaun (page 44) is available for an extension.
