Christmas Eve at the Samnaun Valley Museum: experience Christmas at the Chasa Retica
Christmas Eve at Chasa Retica
The Samnaun Valley Museum is located in Chasa Retica, a listed 17th-century Engadine farmhouse and one of the oldest houses in the Samnaun Valley. In several rooms, the local history collection shows how a Samnaun farming family lived and worked between the 16th and 19th centuries – with original everyday objects, furniture and work tools.
On Christmas Eve, the Valley Museum can be visited freely outside of the usual guided tours. The exhibition shows how hard life in the high valley used to be and how strongly the region between the Engadin and Tyrol was influenced.
Programme on 24 December 2025
The evening at Chasa Retica combines culture, music and socialising:
- 5–8 p.m.: Free admission to the valley museum at Chasa Retica
- From 5.30 p.m.: Musical performances by pupils from Samnaun
- 6–6.30 p.m.: Zither music with Cla Davaz
Throughout the evening, Arno Jäger will be available to answer questions about the house, the museum and life in the Samnaun Valley in the past, and will recount fascinating stories from days gone by. Mulled wine, punch and biscuits will be served. Admission is free and no registration is required.
