International Silvretta Junior Cup in Samnaun: Junior Ski Racing with Thomas Tumler

For children, teenagers, families, and ski clubs, the Silvretta Student Cup is thus one of the sporting highlights of Samnaun’s spring calendar.

The International Silvretta Junior Cup in Samnaun is organized by the Samnaun Snow Sports Club and has been one of the most well-known junior races in the Alpine region for years. The races take place at the Alp Trida Sattel in the Silvretta Ski Arena Samnaun/Ischgl. Participation is open to children and teenagers with or without a racing license, making the event particularly attractive for both ambitious racers and motivated young talents.

The race weekend begins on Friday, April 10, 2026, with the ski cross. The giant slalom races will follow on Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12, 2026. The younger age groups will compete on Saturday, and the older ones on Sunday. The weekend will be complemented by a ski test on Alp Trida, where various ski brands can be directly compared.

A special highlight awaits participants and spectators on Friday and Saturday: Thomas Tumler will be at the start as the forerunner on both days. The Samnaun-based ski racer competes for SSC Samnaun, is a member of the Swiss-Ski national team, and is supported by Samnaun as a secondary title sponsor. His most recent achievements include a 4th-place finish in the 2026 Olympic giant slalom in Bormio and two silver medals at the 2025 World Ski Championships in Saalbach.

On Saturday, Thomas Tumler will hold an autograph session in the finish area on Alp Trida after the race. Additionally, a ceremony honoring his achievements at the Olympic Games is planned there. For many young athletes, this is likely to be a special moment: an internationally successful racer from Samnaun, right in the thick of the action and at the heart of youth sports.

The Silvretta Student Cup combines competitive skiing with an action-packed weekend in Samnaun. On Saturday, in addition to the giant slalom, the popular ski test will take place on Alp Trida. The supporting program will be held at the Almrausch adventure restaurant in Samnaun-Laret. The awards ceremony for Friday’s and Saturday’s races will also take place there on Saturday between 4:00 and 5:30 p.m. On Sunday, the weekend concludes with the awards ceremony in the finish area.
