Trail running, family fun and an alpine atmosphere on 2 July 2026
On Thursday, 2 July 2026, the Terra Raetica Trails – Tour Festival will be stopping off in Samnaun. Look forward to a sporty summer’s day featuring alpine trail running, a free kids’ trail and a festive atmosphere in the finish area.
At 9.30 am, the runners in the adult race will set off from Votlasstrasse. Spectators, families and guests are warmly invited to cheer the participants on loudly and send them off together.
Afterwards, everyone will head to the start of the Märchenweg trail above the Schmuggleralm. The Kids Trail will start there at 10.00 am.
Samnaun Trail – the adult stage
The Samnaun Trail is a diverse trail tour featuring easy sections at the start and finish, varied terrain, and impressive panoramic views. The sections near the Rotes Seeli and the technically runnable trails in particular make this stage a truly memorable experience.
From Samnaun, the route begins gently along the Märchenweg before branching left onto beautiful trails leading into the valley. Further along, the terrain becomes steeper, and the ascent leads up to the 2,659-meter-high Stammerjoch. At the top, an impressive view opens up of the nearly 3,300-meter-high Muttler, the highest peak in the Samnaun Group.
The trail then descends into the valley and climbs again on the opposite side toward the Muttler. At the Red Lake (Rotes Seeli) at just under 2,600 meters, the route veers sharply to the left and leads back along the trail to a forest road, continuing on to the starting point.
Participation in Samnaun only is also possible
If you do not want to run the entire tour, you can choose to complete only the Samnaun Trail and register specifically for the race in Samnaun.
Kids Trail –
a fun running experience for children
The Kids Trail makes the Terra Raetica Trails – Tour Festival a particularly enjoyable experience for families too. Children follow an easy, child-friendly route along the Märchenweg towards Val Maisas and back via Pra Grond to the finish line on Votlasstrasse.
The circuit is around 1.2 kilometres long and involves an ascent of approximately 20 metres and a descent of 45 metres. The Kids Trail is primarily aimed at children aged 6 to 14. Younger children are also welcome to take part; if necessary, the route can be shortened flexibly on the day.
To ensure everyone feels comfortable, children are accompanied at the front and rear of the group. Marshals and helpers along the route provide guidance and ensure safety. Parents are welcome to accompany their children.
Playful obstacles add variety: crossing a bridge, balancing over tree trunks and stones, or climbing over straw bales on Pra Grond. A small gift awaits every child at the finish line.
Participation in the Kids Trail is free of charge. Registration is available on the day.
Catering at the finish line
In the finish area, a small food and drink stand invites you to linger, watch the action and enjoy yourself. It is run by the Sonnenhotel Soldanella-Sonneck.
The menu includes barley soup (vegetarian or with meat), served with bread, as well as drinks such as non-alcoholic beer, mineral water and apple juice. Coffee and cake are also available.
Please note: Payment is only accepted in cash (CHF or EUR).
