Ischgl Ironbike Marathon – a brief overview
The Ischgl Ironbike Marathon takes riders over tarmac, gravel and single track. The route follows historic smugglers’ trails between Ischgl and Samnaun, combining a challenging ride with alpine scenery. There are several route options to choose from in the marathon: EXTREME, HARD, MEDIUM and LIGHT / LIGHT GRAVEL.
Only the two most challenging routes, HARD and EXTREME, pass through the Samnaun area.
HARD
The HARD route covers 65.5 km and has an elevation gain of 2,724 metres. It is classified as difficult. It is therefore aimed at very fit marathon cyclists looking for a long and challenging route with an alpine profile.
EXTREME
The EXTREME route covers 83.4 km and 3,510 metres of elevation gain. It is also classified as difficult and is the most physically demanding of the routes. It is suitable for very experienced marathon cyclists with excellent stamina, sound technique and a high level of resilience in alpine terrain.
