Mountain delights, tradition and all-inclusive
On 27 June, Samnaun kicks off a summer season that combines nature experiences, exercise, cuisine and tradition. Hikers, cyclists, trail runners, families and those looking to enjoy life will find short distances in this high-alpine valley between the mountain railway, the village, the water park, the guest programme and events. The «All-Inclusive» guest card adds extra value to your holiday, giving guests access to key summer services from their very first night’s stay.
Three days, three reasons to visit Samnaun
The first highlight of the programme takes place on Thursday 2 July 2026, with the Terra Raetica Trails – Tour Festival. The Samnaun stage starts at 9.30 am on Südstrasse and follows the Samnaun Trail for 15 kilometres through alpine terrain. For children, there is a Kids’ Trail at 10.00 am, with on-site registration and free participation.
On Friday, 3 July 2026, the 17th Arlberg Classic Car Rally will stop off in Samnaun village. Vintage cars will roll into the valley around midday, turning the village centre into a meeting place for classic car enthusiasts, day trippers and holidaymakers. The rally stop is the perfect opportunity to combine the event with a stroll, a meal at a restaurant or duty-free shopping.
The highlight of the opening weekend, on Saturday 4 July 2026, is the 12th Samnaun Summit Delights. From 11.30 am to 3.00 pm, the Panorama Restaurant Sattel, at 2,488 metres above sea level, will become a stage for culinary delights. Local chefs and selected producers will present tastings, small dishes and exquisite drinks. Live music and an art exhibition round off the programme. A total of ten hotels and restaurants, along with three other producers from Samnaun, will be showcasing their delicacies. For the second time, the Paznaunstube from the Trofana Royal – a business based in Ischgl – will be taking part, symbolising the mountain link between Samnaun and Ischgl.
«The season opener showcases what makes Samnaun so special in summer: outdoor activities on the mountain, socialising in the village and enjoying local specialities»” says Bernhard Aeschbacher, director of the holiday region. «Gipfelgenuss epitomises this combination of alpine scenery, cuisine and a sustainable holiday experience.»
1 August with village market and commemorative speech
The Swiss National Day on 1 August marks the festive highlight of the summer. In Samnaun village, the car-free village street will be transformed into a village market from 10.00 to 17.00, featuring around 30 market stalls, festive decorations and a family programme. During the day, entertainment will include a highline show, bull riding, a bungee trampoline, a children’s play area, airbrush face painting for children, and presentations by the emergency services and the Alpine Rescue Service.
In the evening, there will be a lantern procession, fireworks and a bonfire. National Councillor Magdalena Martullo-Blocher will deliver the ceremonial address. Live music will be provided by the Tschirgant Duo, amongst others. 1 August thus combines Swiss tradition, village life and that summer holiday feeling in an alpine setting.
The summer programme is complemented by further events in August: Up to 140 participants are expected in Samnaun for the Swiss Disc Golf Championships. Following on from 2022, a «Regular Guests» Weekend’ is taking place again this year, with up to 200 loyal guests travelling to Samnaun. The event is all about showing appreciation for and nurturing long-standing guest relationships, combining shared experiences with personal encounters.
«All-inclusive’ from the very first night’s stay»
The «All-inclusive» guest card offers summer visitors exceptional value for money. From the very first night’s stay in summer, it includes access to the open mountain railways from Samnaun to Ischgl, entry to the Alpenquell water park and participation in the guest programme. This includes, for example, guided hikes, painting in the countryside, outdoor yoga, and visits to the valley museum or the alpine dairy.
At the same time, Samnaun Mountain Railways are continuing to invest specifically in the tourist infrastructure: this summer, the double-decker cable car is undergoing extensive modernisation to offer guests even greater comfort in future. Construction work on the new Laret cable car is also underway. This 10-seater gondola lift will connect the lower hamlets of Laret and Compatsch directly to the ski area via an intermediate station. This will create a new access route to the Silvretta Ski Arena Samnaun/Ischgl, which is particularly relevant for guests staying in the lower hamlets.
