New mountain bike skill loop in Samnaun

A low-threshold exercise programme
The Skill Loop is designed as an independently navigable exercise circuit. The aim is to provide low-threshold access to riding technique, teaching the most important basics in a structured and practical way. The project was implemented in collaboration with Graubünden Bike, the municipality of Samnaun and the Samnaun Tourist Information Office; Samnaun is acting as a pilot municipality in Graubünden.
Route and access
The circuit starts in Samnaun and runs mainly along the existing valley circuit or sections of the valley trail (trail no. 22). The practice sections are located on forest paths or easy single trail terrain (S1).
Overview of learning stations
The Skill Loop comprises an information board, tips on bike settings and eight core exercises. The stations are labelled as follows:
- Information board / Bike settings
- Starting / Stopping
- Riding slowly
- Riding around bends
- Riding downhill
- Braking
- Riding down steps
- Changing gears / Pedalling
- Riding over obstacles
How it works
At each station, a sign explains the aim and benefits of the exercise. Short videos explaining the technique step by step can be accessed via the QR code; the exercises are performed directly at the respective station or on the following section of the route.
Samnaun as a pilot community
With the Skill Loop, Samnaun is supplementing its existing cycling facilities with a dedicated learning infrastructure for basic techniques. The initiative was developed as part of a collaboration between Graubünden Bike, the municipality of Samnaun and Samnaun Tourist Information.
