Smuggler Trophy and Winter Opening Concert: Start of the season with adventure and rock music in Samnaun

In the Smuggler Trophy, teams of 2 to 4 people follow in the footsteps of former smugglers between Samnaun and Ischgl. In their rucksacks: ‘smuggled goods’ that need to be transported across the border and back again as skilfully as possible – accompanied by sporting, creative and historical tasks.

There are two routes to choose from:

• «The Original» with up to ten checkpoints throughout the Samnaun/Ischgl ski area
• «The Noubl» with 6-8 checkpoints throughout the Samnaun/Ischgl ski area

The route is chosen upon registration. Team spirit and cleverness are the main criteria for evaluation: those who collect a lot of smuggler talers, master the tasks and work well as a team improve their chances of a podium place

Ratings, prizes and social media

The Smuggler Trophy offers several rankings:

• Top teams on both routes
• Most original outfit
• Best social media post

If cross-border lifts such as Viderjoch or Greitspitz are not in operation due to weather conditions, the Trophy will take place as a ‘valley route’ in and around Samnaun – guaranteeing an adventure nonetheless.

Immediately after the Smugglers' Trophy, Samnaun village will be transformed into an open-air stage. At the Winter Opening Concert, German cover band «ROCK ANTENNE» will ensure an energetic start to the winter season.

• from 4 p.m.: DJ Alex Wangler, food and drink stands in Samnaun village
• from 4.45 p.m.: Smuggler Trophy award ceremony on stage
• from 5.30 p.m.: Free live concert by the «ROCK ANTENNE» band

The musicians will be performing rock classics and modern anthems from AC/DC to Guns N' Roses to Volbeat – with powerful sound, modern technology and a front duo that will thrill the audience into the evening hours.

The concert is free of charge, takes place in the centre of Samnaun village and is accompanied by local vendors offering hot drinks and regional specialities. Parking spaces are limited, so we recommend travelling by public transport or the SamnaunBus.
