Approach to Heidelberger Hütte from Samnaun

From the parking lot in Samnaun, walk to the end of Musellastraße, turn left there and reach a gravel road. This leads into the Val Musauna with its lush mountain meadows. Passing the waterfalls, where the wide road ascends in switchbacks, finally hike over the Zeblas meadows (still on the road) to the 2539 meter high Zeblasjoch, which is suitable for a scenic break.

From here, the well-marked trail no. 712 leads along the northeast flank of the Vesil Joch in a gently ascending traverse to the opposite Fuorcla da Val Gronda (2752 m), which is located just southeast of the (unfortunately built over with a cable car) summit Piz Val Gronda (2812 m).

From this highest point of the hike, continue following path no. 712 towards the southwest. On the descent over still open, rather gently sloping mountain slopes, leave the Piz Fenga Pitschna and Piz Davo Sasse on the left.

Finally, the trail turns west, reaches the valley floor and after crossing the Aua da Fenga, the large Heidelberger Hütte.
