Construction began in May 2026; the lift is scheduled to open in November 2027, in time for the 2027/28 winter season.
Further facilities are also being modernised: the Twinliner Samnaun will receive new cabins and modern technology in summer 2026. In Ischgl, the Höllbodenbahn C1 and Sassgalunbahn C3 were already completed for the 2025/26 winter season; the Höllkarbahn C2 is planned as the next stage of development in summer 2026.

New Laretbahn Samnaun: More Direct and More Comfortable Access to the Ski Area
The new Laretbahn L3 is the most important future project on this page. The 10-seater gondola lift Laret–Champs–Muller is designed to connect the lower village areas of Laret and Compatsch directly with the ski area via a mid-station. This will create a modern access point to the Silvretta Ski-Arena Samnaun/Ischgl – especially relevant for guests staying overnight in the lower village areas.
What the New Laretbahn means for Guests
For visitors, access to the ski area will become easier, more direct and more comfortable. In future, the lift will serve two purposes: it will act as a feeder lift into the ski arena and also as an in-resort lift within the ski area. This allows winter sports enthusiasts to divide their descent more flexibly and use either the upper or lower section of the route depending on the situation.

Timeline for the New Laretbahn
The concession and planning approval for the new 10-seater monocable gondola lift were granted by the Federal Office of Transport on 30 March 2026. Once the approval became legally binding, construction work was able to begin in May 2026. The planned construction period is two years; commissioning is scheduled for November 2027, in time for the 2027/28 winter season.

Construction Progress of the New 10-Passenger Gondola Lift (10-MGD) Laret–Champs-Muller
Work on the new 10-passenger gondola lift is progressing rapidly! Despite the challenging topography and complex logistics in the alpine terrain, work is in full swing across all construction sections.
Careful Treatment of Nature and the Landscape
A major project of this scale in an alpine environment requires not only technical precision, but above all a responsible approach to nature.
All construction work is therefore closely coordinated with the environmental construction supervisors and the responsible authorities. Our primary goal is to minimize the impact on nature and the landscape.
This is particularly evident in the temporary measures: Wherever possible, materials are transported via existing slopes and paths in order to protect the sensitive ground. In addition, excavated areas for foundations are professionally backfilled after the work has been completed and reintegrated into the natural surroundings, allowing the alpine environment to recover quickly.

Construction Progress: Steady Growth on the Mountain
The construction site is taking shape and growing step by step. Following extensive and demanding slope stabilization measures, the first lower floors have now been successfully completed.
The Current Status in Detail:
Basement Levels & Bridge
The direct access point on the second basement level has been completed. It is aligned with the future bridge over the Mühlbach stream, which is scheduled to be built next year.
The floor slabs of the first and second basement levels have now been successfully concreted. Work on the rear support column of the station has also begun.
Outlook for 2026
During the remainder of 2026, the complete concrete work for the ground floor, including the corresponding ceiling slab, is scheduled to be carried out.

Middle Station
The building section with the boarding area, control room and ancillary rooms on the ground floor, as well as the additional technical rooms on the basement levels, is largely complete in terms of the structural shell.
Current Work
Work is currently focused on the actual station area and its wall structures.
Roof Construction
The roof beams for the station area are currently being prefabricated and can be installed in the coming weeks.
Outlook
According to schedule, the main construction work, excluding the cable car technology, is expected to be completed later this year.

Current Status
The main construction work in the gondola storage area is largely complete.
The station area, including the ancillary rooms and the control room, is currently under construction. Concreting of the ceiling slab is scheduled to take place shortly.
Outlook
Once this milestone has been reached, the structural work at the mountain station will be fully completed.

Twinliner Samnaun: New Cabins and Modern Technology
The Twinliner Samnaun L1 remains a key project for access from Samnaun into the ski area. The double-decker cable car, built in 1995, will undergo extensive modernisation in summer 2026. As part of the upgrade, both cabins will be replaced, the cable car control system will be renewed and the automatic platform doors will be brought up to the latest standard.
In addition, the installation will be prepared for future operation with unaccompanied cabins. To enable this, the cabins and stations will be adapted technically and structurally. During the summer months, the L2 aerial cableway will remain in operation, ensuring transport for guests and locals. The modernised Twinliner is scheduled to reopen in time for the start of the 2026/27 winter season.

In addition to replacing both cabins, the cable car control system is also being renewed, the platform and boarding areas are being modernized, and the necessary requirements for future unaccompanied operation are being put in place.
The schedule for recommissioning at the start of the 2026/27 winter season remains on track. The modernization work on site is now entering its final phase.
Installation of the New Cabins and Successful Test Run
On Monday, September 21, installation of the new Twinliner cabins began at the valley station. Following the successful installation of the first cabin during the first two days of the week, an important technical interim step in the further installation process followed.
To ensure the smooth installation of the second cabin, an initial provisional run of the already installed cabin to the mountain station was carried out. This test run was performed using the integrated diesel emergency drive. This created the necessary conditions for positioning the cable and installing the remaining cabin unit.
Station and Platform Area
The redesign of the station is well advanced.
The platform areas are now fully enclosed with large glass panels. This modern glazing not only creates a bright and welcoming boarding area, but also offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountain panorama.
The high-quality flooring is also currently in the final phase and will be completed shortly.

New Lifts in Ischgl: Höllkarbahn C2, Höllbodenbahn C1 and Sassgalunbahn C3
In addition to the projects in Samnaun, infrastructure on the Ischgl side is also being further developed. The focus is on three new 8-seater D-Line chairlifts with weather protection bubbles and heated seats: Höllbodenbahn C1, Sassgalunbahn C3 and Höllkarbahn C2.
Höllkarbahn C2: Next Expansion Stage in Summer 2026
The Höllkarbahn C2 is planned as the third new lift in this renewal phase, with implementation scheduled for summer 2026. According to the current project information, it is specified as an 8-seater chairlift with a capacity of 4,200 people per hour, 89 chairs and a travel time of around 5.1 minutes.
For the Silvretta Ski-Arena Samnaun/Ischgl, the Höllkarbahn C2 is important because it completes the new generation of lifts in the Höllboden, Sassgalun and Höllkar area. Together with the already completed C1 and C3 lifts, it strengthens comfort on frequently used routes within the ski area.
Höllbodenbahn C1 and Sassgalunbahn C3: Already in Operation Since Winter 2025/26
The Höllbodenbahn C1 and Sassgalunbahn C3 were newly built in summer 2025 and have already been in operation since the 2025/26 winter season. Both lifts represent modern cableway technology with heated seats, weather protection bubbles and automatic boarding and alighting monitoring.
For the Höllbodenbahn C1, the mountain station was repositioned around 500 metres east of the Idalp, between pistes 10 and 11. This location is intended to significantly improve the crossing of winter sports enthusiasts in the Höllboden/Idalp area. The Sassgalunbahn C3 complements the modernisation of the central ski area around Höllboden and Idalp.
