Our authentic rösti recipe with mountain cheese from Samnaun

Cheese rösti from Samnaun: Perfectly combined with traditional mountain cheese for an incomparable treat
Simple and delicious. This is the best way to describe the rösti recipes. The cheese rösti with real Grisons mountain cheese in particular are a feast you won't soon forget. And it doesn't take much.


  • 2 tbsp clarified butter 

  • 200 g Grisons mountain cheese 

  • 600 g potatoes, grated 

  • 1 tsp salt 


  • Peel the boiled potatoes and then grate them into strips. 
  • Mix the potato strips with salt. 
  • Place the clarified butter in a heated pan and allow to melt. 
  • Add the rösti and fry lightly until golden. 
  • Grate the Grisons mountain cheese over the top and then bake in the oven at 120 degrees Celsius for approx. 10 minutes. 
  • Serve the cheese rösti and enjoy.
