Samnaun skier Thomas Tumler delivered a strong performance in the Olympic giant slalom, finishing in 4th place — just 0.28 seconds short of the podium.

The men’s giant slalom took place in Bormio. Gold went to Lucas Pinheiro Braathen (Brazil), ahead of Marco Odermatt (silver) and Loïc Meillard (bronze). Tumler placed directly behind them, earning the tough but impressive 4th spot and finishing as the best athlete from Graubünden.

Just missed out, but a convincing performance

Thomas Tumler went into the race with a clear goal: to attack. A small mistake in the second run likely cost him a medal, but he still produced one of his best runs of the season and said afterwards that the result gave him renewed confidence.

Rooted in Samnaun

Tumler races for SSC Samnaun and has long carried Samnaun with him as an important part of his sporting journey. Samnaun also supports him as a partner.

Samnaun congratulates and wishes him continued success

The Samnaun holiday region congratulates Thomas Tumler warmly on this top Olympic result. A 4th place at the Olympic Games is a real statement and shows just how close he is to the very top of the world. Samnaun wishes him continued success, fast runs and the bit of racing luck needed for the upcoming races and the rest of the season.
