Wegbeschreibung
The route starts directly at the customs house and follows for about 1 to 1.5 hours, mostly along the forest road, the Zandersbach stream up to the Fließer Alpe (2003 m) and further over beautiful alpine pastureland to the Fließer-Stieralpe (2290 m).
To reach the summit of Mathäuskopf (2743 m), also labeled as Matthäuskopf on some maps, you climb into a distinctive cirque to the notch just below the summit. The last few meters to the summit cross are easily managed without skis.
The descent usually follows the ascent route.
Variation:
It is possible to descend from the ski depot westward into the Upper Malfrag and at a notable gap in the rocks southward into the Lower Malfrag. After another ascent of about 150 vertical meters to the Lower Malfragkopf (2654 m), a fantastic and extensive downhill terrain awaits.
Attention: The descent variation on the track crosses very steep slopes twice (>35°). However, the steep sections can easily be bypassed.
